Makawao town turned PINK last weekend

Last Saturday, Makawao town held its “Pink Passion for the Cure” block party. Desiree Martinez, owner of Pink By Nature, organized this fundraiser and block party to raise funds to fight breast cancer and to provide support to survivors and their families.

In collaboration with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, funds were raised from the silent auction, drawings and a bake sale.

Pink By Nature Maui owner Desiree Martinez is organizing the event. She said she has had family and friends who have been touched by breast cancer. In fact, a friend of hers currently is battling the disease.

Martinez said most Baldwin Avenue businesses have made donations to the event.
